Operations Analyst

Merrel C. R. Payne is an emerging cybersecurity professional with a strong foundation in technology, analytical thinking, leadership, and disciplined problem-solving.

His interest in both cybersecurity and human behavior gives him a unique perspective on protecting digital systems and understanding the people behind security risks.

Merrel is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity with a minor in Psychology at Florida International University, with an expected graduation in May 2027. He previously earned his Associate of Arts degree from Tallahassee Community College, where he was named to the Dean's List, and attended Presbyterian College on a partial athletic scholarship.

A former competitive football and track athlete, Merrel brings discipline, situational awareness, teamwork, resilience, and the ability to perform under pressure- qualities that translate naturally to the cybersecurity profession.

His professional experience with Vesta Property Services has further strengthened his leadership, communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities. He is also Microsoft Office Certified and brings strong collaboration and presentation skills to professional environments.

Beyond technology, Merrel is committed to leadership and community service. He has volunteered with Feeding Northeast Florida and the Clara White Mission and received a Leadership Mentorship Award from the University of North Florida.

Merrel is focused on building a career in cybersecurity, with particular interests in digital resilience, cyber risk, identity protection, social engineering, and security awareness. He aims to combine technical knowledge, an understanding of human behavior, and disciplined leadership to help organizations build safer, more trusted digital environments.
